Pool Remodeling
Renovation refreshes what exists. Remodeling changes what the pool is - its shape, its depth, its relationship to the yard.

What is the difference between pool renovation and remodeling?
Renovation replaces worn components - surface, tile, coping, deck, equipment - while keeping the pool's shape and depth. Remodeling alters the structure itself: filling in a deep end, adding a tanning ledge or bench, extending the shell, adding a spa, or changing the edge and deck geometry. Remodeling involves structural work and usually a longer schedule.
Common remodeling moves
- Raising the shallow end to convert unused diving depth into usable water
- Adding a full-width sun ledge or entry bench
- Building a raised bond beam wall with a spillover or scupper detail
- Adding an integrated spa to an existing pool
- Squaring off a dated freeform shape, or softening a hard rectangle
- Replacing a narrow perimeter walkway with a proper deck and lounge zone
What to check first
Structural remodeling depends on the condition of the existing shell and how well old and new concrete can be tied together. Plumbing routes, skimmer positions and equipment capacity all have to be re-evaluated when the water volume or feature count changes.
