Design decisions this climate rewards
Shade over the primary deck area, light-coloured decking that stays cooler underfoot, moving air from fans in covered structures, and generous skimming capacity for pollen and leaves. Each of these does more for real enjoyment than an extra water feature.
A spa or heater extends use into spring and fall, when the weather here is at its best but the water is not yet comfortable.
